Long story short I swapped rear ends from my 33 Gen 1 Hot Rod (2000 SN95 Mustang Rear) with what I believe was a Fox Body rear in my MK2. This moves my rear wheels out past the fender lip. I believe I can swap the SN95 axles with Fox body axles to pull the wheels in 3/4" on each side.

Anybody confirm this or done it?

I've read to use the stock SN95 discs with the Fox axles I need to get special brackets to move the caliper mount bracket to the inside of the rear housing end. I'm not using stock discs rather Baer 6P 14" discs and they offer a shallower rotor hat to utilize the same 14" discs and rotors on the Fox or SN95 body.

Yes, if you have in fact a 86-98 housing. Yes you will need special brackets to run the SN95 disc brakes on Fox axle or you can switch to one of my wilwood 4 piston rear kits.

Thanks Gordon to clarify my understanding is the SN95 and Fox body 8.8 housings are identical length. But the axles on SN95 are 3/4" longer on each side to accomodate the ALB sensor so the Fox body axles will fit the SN95 housing but bring in the total width by 1.5".

I believe the SN 95 housing from 94-98 is the same width as the Fox body. After that the housings got wider. If you have a 2000 housing then, the axles and brake adapter hardware won't work. It is 3 inches wider than the 87-98 housing.

That's what I gathered from my recent research. The total width is 1.5" longer, but that all comes from axle width, not housing. I'm using a 1995 8.8 axle in my Roadster build and Jeff created awareness that I didn't expect. Turns out my wheels are still plenty narrow so I won't have to deal with fender contact.

Be advised, most Fox Body axles are 4-lug for drum brakes, unless you are talking aftermarket.

Mine isn't buried yet so if you need any measurements let me know.

Thanks all, I need to measure the two housings I have. I know the new one I put in is a 2000 housing. But if its wider that the 79-98 housing I had in the car then its a mute point and I'll just adjust the rear coil overs a bit higher than the 1" of clearance I currently have. I was not aware the axle housing width changed after 1998.
