Hi all,
Getting to the point where I have dash questions. I am assuming that the dash can be removed with the body still on, i.e., when the screws are removed the dash can slides down away from the body (of course pulling the dash away from the steering column at the same time), correct?
I see in various pictures, the screws mounted through the dash and into the hoop frame behind - see picture below. But how do you access the screws that would be in the corners? Opening the doors?

I have borrowed another person's posted pic on the forum to illustrate my questions.
Thanks, in advance.

I did rivnuts in the corners that way they come out just like regular screws.

I did a drop down tab with rivnuts in all positions that lowered the rivnuts about 1/2". However, I used dummy screws and velcro in the corners and created another screw on the lower part of the bends to secure it better. I don't have great pics for the corners though.

If you screw through the dash directly into the dash hoop then the screws will be covered by the rolled edge of the body when installed. Many have made tabs ( L brackets ) that they attach to the bottom of the dash hoop allowing the screws to be lower on the dash and thus removable once the body is installed. Some planning is required to avoid interference with gauges and other dash items. You also want to make sure the centre screw is properly placed, like the one in the picture you posted, to be aligned with the centre stripe on your paint job.

I went a different way. Have a stiffened under tray & a home made console for my radio. The top of the dash is a press fit between the body roll & the square chassis tube. Bottom lip of the dash is screwed to the under tray which is riveted to the chassis. The console is a force fit that presses the dash into the slot between the body roll & the square tube. Console is screwed to the transmission tunnel.

Garage door opener is velcroed to the under tray.

I'm using 3M dual lock "velcro" like material attached to the dash and to L brackets bolted to the hoop frame.
edwardb made some tabs that he attached to the backside his dash with screws before covering it and then attached to the underside of the hoop w/ rivnuts but needed to be accessed/unscrewed from below the dash.
IMO not having screw heads through the dash is a cleaner look, but that's my humble opinion.

Velcro along the hoop frame was a Factory Five build school recommendation for their carbon fiber dash when I went this summer. I'm sure it can apply to all dashes. I plan to do it this way when I finally receive my dash.

I used three visible screws along the top and an under dash filler panel. Worked out perfectly for me.
If done right the screws just blend away with the dash finish.

I did the 3M hook and loop method using a couple of L brackets mounted to the underside of the 3/4" hoop. Also have the under dash filler panel. CDXXVIII, I am considering a silver/gray for the car, yours looks good. Would you consider sharing your color MFR and codes?
Thanks, Rich

ie427 has a good explanation on mounting the dash here, starts about 18 minutes in https://youtu.be/YiJKIfkhAOQ

I'm a first time builder, I did the tabs with rivnuts so the dash would attach to the bottom of the hoop rail, probably like CaptB above, I can drop the dash by removing 4 cap head screws (I hope I don't have to though). I spend a bit of time getting it all lined up the 3M velcro idea sounds pretty good maybe my next build.
