Quick question before I “snug up” the front spindle lug to 225-250 lb-ft. Should this red/orange substance be there? It seems like it’s really restricting the hub nut from engaging the spindle https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=179277&d=1675555176

Yep, that’s thread locker. Use an impact gun to draw it down and the torque it.

I had to mess around with those as well (due to me switching the left and right steering rods). What I thankfully learned from others on the forum is that those nuts are single-use. Which is to say, if that nut in your hand has been fully torqued already, you should chuck it and buy a new one.

Thanks for the feedback gents. I only hand tightened it so I should be good to torque it down all the way. Unfortunately I don’t have an impact but I do have a massive torque wrench I rented from Auto zone that goes up to 400 lb-ft. 225-250 should be smooth. (Famous last words!)

If you have a long prybar, stick it between two lugs and let the other end hit the floor. Otherwise it is real difficult to get to the 250 spec.

Still haven't had your coffee Craig? ;) He's torquing the hub nut to the spindle, you don't need to keep hub from turning.

Then why does he show the front suspension and hub? And the post say: Front spindle Hub nut
