Ok, dumb question but which way do the Koni rear shocks mount on the IRS? I assume it is the same as the front with the shock body up and the coil-over down. But the manual shows the coil-over spring up and shock body down (page 112), and the IRS supplemental information shows the coil-over down and shock body up just as it is in the front.

Which is it?

It doesn't matter as I understand on the red Konis, I have mine body down.

Probably makes no difference, but mounting them upside down keeps the seal lubricated and prevents dust building up on the wiper seal.
Same goes for the bonnet (hood:rolleyes:) struts.

Also by mounting the shock absorber with rod down, there is slightly less unsprung weight I suppose.

I have the rear mounted the same as the front, but also have the "double adjustable" Koni. I think there are some slight differences.

Yes I believe the DA koni can only be mounted body down.

Thanks. I think I will mount them the same as the front, upside down.

Just to be 100% clear (some of the responses leave a little doubt...) the red Koni's can be mounted either direction. Body up or body down. The silver double adjustable shocks (Koni 8212 series) can only be mounted body down for the internal valving to work correctly.
