I am looking to upgrade the fuel filter that comes with the Mk4 complete kit. I saw a thread on the other site that had few replies and was some what helpful.
I am running a carbureted setup with mechanical fuel pump. I do like the Aeromotive stuff, what would be a good fuel filter for my setup? Also I am planning on buying a Boyd’s gas tank in the future and using Aeromotive fuel lines threw out.
Any suggestions for a newbie?

This is what was suggested on the other forum. Cant say I like the price of the aeromotive ones compared to this.
Anyone have anything bad to say about the idea of using this?

I went with a 40 micron Aeromotive for my EFI setup. While that might be overkill for a carburated engine, I like the size and the fact that the filter element can be removed and cleaned. See how I installed it here: http://factory5roadster.wordpress.com/2010/12/30/12-30-10-more-plumbing-and-retracing-some-steps/

Fantistic post, my engine builder told me he wants me to run -8 an to the carb so I was looking at the inline filters and was wondering if it was ok to use one for this application. You just answered all my questions with your post.
Thank you!

NO need for anything that massive, -6 an is large!

Use 100micron pre-pump, 10micron-post pump for carb or efi. You could use 40micron pre-pump with a carb, but I'd rather do the standard 100/10 combo.

Aeromotive makes decent filters.

And I agree w/ Rich - -6 line shoudl be large enough unless you'remaking > 500hp, then upsize to -8.

edit: just saw you were using a mechanical pump; i'd probably just use 40micron filter then before i.
