Looking at deleting my oil temp guage after removing the oil filter relocation kit (SBF). Replaced the shorty headers so no longer require it. The sensor is tied into the kit and unless I'm mistaken, there is no other location to mount it. My oil pan does not have a bung, so may have to go without it. I cannot seem to stop the relocation kit from leaking at the block so I want to remove it........Question....don't track the car, so is the temp guage necessary or nice to have and other than removing the oil pan and having a bung wielded, is there any other location I can mount the sensor?

Thanks

The adaptor is cast aluminum and mine leaked because it cracked. I took it off my car but I have the sensor in the oil pan. You probably can get a new relocation kit from someone who is not using it, should be lots of them around. I have a new one sitting in the basement but I am in Canada so shipping will be high otherwise it would be yours

Personally, I'm not going to roll one. Maybe if the engine was air cooled (like a Harley) but there's literally millions of engines out there without a care in the world regarding oil temp getting by just fine.

I’d just roll without it. The question is are you going to replace the dash gauge with another gauge or just leave it alone? Some have discussed putting the temp sender on a T coming off the block along with the oil pressure sender but it won’t get circulating oil to accurately estimate the temp. Bung in the oil pan is really the best way unless you’re running an oil cooler.

Unless you run your car really hard, you really won’t need it. Yank out the gauge and pop a clock into the hole.

Personally, I like to mess with people, so I'd put in a big red button that says "DO NOT PUSH".

Ejector seat would be great!

Have you considered something like this?

https://www.amazon.com/GlowShift-Oil-Filter-Sandwich-Adapter/dp/B001PLNDF2/ref=sr_1_11?crid=957NPEK3ZCF1&keywords=ford+sandwich+filter+adapter&qid=1674614662&sprefix=ford+sandwich+filter+adapter%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-11

Of course, you'd need to find the correct thread version for your application.

I'm running a similar setup; however, I modified a CVS remote oil filter adapter.

Ford Version Link Below:

I drilled holes in the sucker to let the oil flow through it.

My oil temperature and oil pressure gauge sending units work just fine using this modified sandwich adapter.

Thanks. Did you just tap the adapter and thread in the sensor?
