Coming from the man who insisted on putting a SBC in his roadster I suppose the result is predictable :p

To quote our friend Henry Renaud “I’ve never spent so much money on an engine to make so little power.”

Love It Sir Jeffski, Absolutely Love It!!!

I think that the flathead is cool, but would go better in a Deuce Coupe.

Let me guess - the engine depicted in the photo is actually a FORD flathead...

btw - my first thought was that the young guy in the photo was actually GoDad. Yes/no?

A flathead can make even the mundane cool.

I'd like to do a Camaro with a JDM powerplant just to piss everyone off.

Man tough room for Cheby lovers. Only forum I have seen that is tougher is the Vintage Mustang Forum. If you mention SBC there, its not pretty.

And it would still be pissing people off 100 years from now cause the engine would still be going.

I have been working on my 70 Mach 1 Mustang restomod for going on 6 years now. I just can't imagine the hours and dollars it takes to build one of the P-51 replicas. Out of my league.
While SBCs in a Factory Five are somewhat accepted here, the thought of putting one in a Vintage Mustang will put a shudder in the force. It is bad enough that I am putting a 2nd Gen Coyote and 6R80 into my Mustang. I do get push back from some, but nothing like someone just mentioning putting a LS3 or the like in a Mustang.
On one of the *****in Rides episodes where they had a show at the shop. One Mustang owner had a LS in his Mustang that was so well disguised, it was difficult to tell it was not a SBF. I often wonder if disguising the engine was in the plan from the beginning or the result of all the call outs the owner got from the Ford guys. Its all fun mostly, but complaints can get old. I should have my Mustang on the road in 2024, it will be interesting to hear the commentary.

FORD FE CRATE ENGINE - LS3 (https://www.lsclassic.com/crate-engine-packages/opcdnbdgaw0qq45l0si24k8kc8jk15)

FORD FE CRATE ENGINE - LS3 (https://www.lsclassic.com/crate-engine-packages/opcdnbdgaw0qq45l0si24k8kc8jk15)

That's a really cool Ford Edsel appearance package for the LS-3 engine.

The Ford FE engine is a Ford V8 engine used in vehicles sold in the North American market between 1958 and 1976. The FE was introduced to replace the short-lived (in the USA) Ford Y-block engine, which American cars and trucks were outgrowing. It was designed with room to be significantly expanded, and manufactured both as a top-oiler and side-oiler, and in displacements between 332 cu in (5.4 L) and 428 cu in (7.0 L).

"FE" derives from 'Ford-Edsel.'[1] Versions of the FE line designed for use in medium and heavy trucks and school buses from 1964 through 1978 were known as "FT," for 'Ford-Truck,'[2] and differed primarily by having steel (instead of nodular iron) crankshafts, larger crank snouts, smaller ports and valves, different distributor shafts, different water pumps and a greater use of iron for its parts.

Generic and/or Custom Valve Covers Would Do The Trick!

Aside from blue paint that doesn’t look much like an FE at all.

Lots of good info….have you noticed that at the drag strip all the fast late ~90’s - ‘00 Mustangs pretty much run LS engines?

So given that, I assume that I can just paint a Coyote ORANGE and pass it off as a 327 :p :p

No, I'd pass it off as a 3.6 V6 engine.

But with the distributor on the wrong end of the engine - does it just run backwards?
