Getting very close to pushing the order button.... I am planning on ordering the FFR side pipes, not 100% yet because I am not sure if they will be too loud. I love the sound of the ones I've heard before but don't know what was on those cars. So my question is if I do put the FFR pipes on and decide I would like to tone them down and get some Gas-N pipes instead, will they fit right up to the FFR headers and how will the finish look ? Thoughts , ideas? Pics of the different finishes would also be nice. Thanks for everyone that posts here.
Bill
My experience is that they will fit differently. You may or may not need to adjust the opening on the body.

With a Gen3 Coyote, I HATED the loudness and bark of the FF pipes. Upgraded to Gas-N touring and couldn't be happier.

Hi Bill,
I have a Gen 3 Coyote and purchased the Gas-n "touring model" pipes in lieu of the FFR version. The fit is perfect as far as the FFR Coyote headers. I got the highly polished finish and it is beautiful. The sound is perfect, both at an idle and blipping.
Finally, like FFR, they were a pleasure to deal with.
Good luck with your build :)

IMO spend the $ on Gas 'n and order them now much better quality pipes that also won't blow out. I am running the Gas 'n touring and they are still plenty loud with a 427. Different engines will have a different sound/tone. I needed to use wedges on drivers side and pass side fit perfectly, did not need to cut out the body. Also running fixed engine mounts.
Congrats on your build, fun journey ahead for you!

Gas-N pipes are very nice. I purchased the regular ss mirror polished and the shine is spectacular. I have a Gen 1 Coyote with ss headers from Fortes. I also wrapped the headers with exhaust wrap. They sounds amazing with a much lower rumble. I did have to purchase wedges from Breeze to get them aligned evenly. Wait time to get the pipes was about 6 months due to material shortages.
They exceeded my expectations.

In my case, I deleted the FFR side pipes from the order. What I found is that the credit was maybe 1/3 of the item price. If I were to do it again, I would include the FFR pipes, sell them and buy the Gas-N polished SS side pipes. I loved the look and the sound of the Gas-N side pipes. As an early MK4 build using a 4.6L DOHC mod motor I used the CAT/J-pipes. I chose them so that they would act as a pre-muffler in front of the side pipes. It worked, during normal driving a nice mellow sound. You could talk to your passenger up to about 60 mph when the wind noise overruled any attempt at conversation.
The FFR side pipes had a bad habit of blowing out the sound deadener material and then the inner perforated pipes would start rattling. If you want your car loud, go with the FFR pipes.

My first 1000 miles or so with the FFR pipes my mindset was this is freaking badass and I dont care how loud they are. Then I came to the realization once the newness wore off that they were ridiculously loud and were causing hearing damage. Even driving with earplugs. Save yourself the hassle and get the Gas-N pipes from the start.
It's a matter of perspective. While I understand the concerns of many, I'm not all that concerned. Consider that I have a fair amount of hearing loss to start with (musician in a prior life) so I turn the volume up on a regular basis. (much to the chagrin of my dear wife!) Bottom line: I think the FFR pipes are just fine. Are they loud? Maybe. I do wear ear plugs on long drives, but for the most part, I just don't care :D

Have Bluetooth entertainment system to hearing aids. What side pipe noise?

Another option is Boig Quiet Pipes. I have them on my Coyote. They fit perfectly with no shims and are not too loud, but you will still know you are driving a Cobra! The only down side is that they come bare metal and you have to consider the expense of having them coated.

My experience with Factory Five pipes, both Roadster and Coupe, is they're not only loud but have a "ring" to them that seems to come through even when wearing ear protection. Not pleasant for me at all. Regular Gas-N's aren't a lot quieter from a DB standpoint, but have a much more pleasant sound. The touring option Georgie offers are definitely quieter. A buddy has them on his Roadster and they sound nice. Still no doubt what it is but at a reduced level. Plus the Gas-N appearance and craftsmanship is amazing and by all accounts lasts longer. But as already mentioned, the credit for the Factory Five pipes isn't a lot. I typically suggest to take the pipes on your original order. Use them for mock-up, first start, even go-kart if you want. Then you can hear what they sound like and decide if you're OK with that. If not, you can sell them here typically for more than your credit and order the Gas-N's. As already mentioned, they will fit somewhat differently, so don't fit to your body until you decide which ones you're going to keep.

I think I will go with the Gas'n regular, keep some loudness and get the better quality pipe.
