Hi all,

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but as I move towards the ordering stage for my coupe, I have read things that seem to indicate that the Wiwood pedal box and booster are worthwhile upgrades. However (and I know it's a drop in the bucket comparitively, but still), Wilwood rears for IRS are... Pricey.

Is there any issue with running 2015 Mustang rear brakes with Wildwoods on the front?

Thanks in advance!

I suspect Godon Levy will weigh in but my understanding is that you'll be disappointed with the outcome.

I am running stock front and rear and even autocross - only change I did was step up the pads to EBC yellow stuff - I don't think mixing wilwood and stock is good plan - but build it the way you want.

The Wilwood pedal box and a booster are not particularly compatible and although Whitby offers a kit to modify the Wilwood box to use a booster in a roadster I don’t think it will work in a Coupe.

Not a fan of using a booster, specifically with Wilwoods. The Mustang brakes can be made to work decent with good balancing and upgraded pads. My Wilwoods work far better and I have 6 different kits for the front and 3 for the IRS depending on wheel type and car use. In the grand scheme of the total cost of your build upgrading your brakes is not that much. Mismatching front and rears will never work or balance well.

Thanks everyone for the thorough and quick responses!

I won't try mixing.
Thanks again!

I’m a bit confused I guess, people upgrade front brakes on sports cars all the time while leaving the factory rears in place. How would this be any different?

These cars typically suffer from not enough rear brake toe a variety of reasons which has been discussed endlessly for years and again as recently as last week:
