Hey all
For a strictly street car, are you using a inertia fuel pump shutoff switch. The manual does not mention it but I have been told it is a good idea. Be nice not to have gasoline pumped around in the event of a mishap.

thanks

Assuming you're using the Ron Francis harness. It's not in the Factory Five build manual. There are minimal wiring harness details there. Instead, it points you to the Chassis Wiring Harness installation instructions. Which has all the details including installation of the inertia switch.

Yes, use it in all builds. It's for your safety.

They are cheap and simple to install. I would recommend it. Didn't your kit come with one?

I'm using it. Within the RF harness, it can be found in the ground path of the fuel pump.

Not put too fine a point on it, but technically the inertia switch is the ground path for the fuel pump relay. Not the pump itself. The pump goes to regular chassis ground.

The fuel pump relay needs to be closed to send +12V out of the panel to the pump. If the inertia switch opens, the ground for the relay is broken, the relay opens, and power to the pump is interrupted.

Only so much safety in these simple machines. As others have said I wouldn't miss a cheap and easy opportunity to make them safer.

Got it. I ordered the Basic kit. Did not include wiring harness. In retrospect, I should have gone with the complete kit, Would have saved some headaches. Now ready to order wiring harness from Summit or CJ Pony parts. Is there anyone out there from Eastern Pa.? Sure would like to see someone else's build. Or, I am heading to Denver in a couple weeks. If you all are aware, there is a really cool Cobra museum in Boulder that I plan to visit. Found it on youtube.

Send me a Private Message if you want to try to come by and look at my car. I'm about 30 miles S/E of Denver. My car is a Roadster, not a Coupe...

The Ron Francis harness available from Factory Five is custom made and only available from them. I assumed you were using the RF harness (said so in my post) and described how the inertia switch works in that harness. A generic harness from elsewhere is certainly doable and some have used one. But hopefully you have the appropriate knowledge and experience. Not saying it's hard. Just that forum help could be limited. Another harness may/may not have an inertia switch. But no guarantee it's wired as described here. I'd recommend for future forum questions regarding electrical or your harness that you specify what you have so we don't go down the Ron Francis path. Good luck.

Do you have a Coupe?

I'm in Emmaus, just south of Allentown/Bethlehem. I received my coupe about a year ago and was really only able to get work underway last summer. I'm about ready to drop they Coyote into place! (Just need to complete recovery from surgery)

Let me know if you ever end up in my neck of the woods!

I get down there all the time for work. I also retired from Verizon and worked out of Emmaus for years.
I would love to see your build. Could use some ideas. I just dropped my motor in on my coupe last week. If you would like to come up and check it out, let me know. Give me a call sometime. my cell is 570-449-8055

I will be out there from 2/24 thru 3/7.
Going skiing. Staying in Frisco. We will take a day off and go to museum then would really like to see your coupe. I would like to see how others are building their Coupes. New ideas, etc. How can I get in touch with you?
