Tail light wiring

I see during wiring up my tail lights on a new MK4 with LED tail lights that there are only 3 wires on each light and 4 wires on the Ron Francis harness. What wires do you connect the purple brake to? The manual shows only the ground, tail, and turn signal wires connected. Also the instructions for wiring the "converter" are very confusing. Any one know what to do?
