Have any of you either changed the FFR supplied mufflers to something that is a bit quieter, added a resonator, or something else to reduce the sound.
At idle it sounds great, but under load or above 40 MPH it gets pretty loud. My wife is refusing to ride in it unless we don’t go over 30.
I’ve got an LS3 in it and no CAT’s, not required here.

I posted some info a couple of years ago here: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?35447-muffler-question&highlight=muffler

AFAIK, Magna-Flow or Borla are still the way to go for more rumble and less bark...

A pair of turbo mufflers really was much quieter for my wife's 33. See post#173

Gee, leaving the original mufflers was my solution to get some time away from my wife!

Sometimes that’s a good option.

The original mufflers worked like a champ to keep my wife out of the car. She said while we were driving it's too loud... I said What..... She rode in it one time. Win Win !!!!!

It's odd, I did not do the hard top and I think the FFR mufflers sound great. My wife is a huge car nut and loves the tone of the exhaust / mufflers. She jumps in for cruising every opportunity she get.

Check out Car chemistry website or Summit Racing for cc inserts. Cc inserts go in the end of the side pipes tightly and are held in with a single rivet but do a decent job reducing the brassy noise. They come with caps that can be welded on to help more. You can also get stainless steel packing to place between the plates. I have a picture of mine as I had an issue with them sending me 2 different types. They corrected the issue within 2 days. Great service. They have other options that could fit your setup. Good luck…. 178243

I’ll check them out. Maybe I can slide them into the muffler.
To me is seems the car was quieter when I was just driving it around in go-kart mode.
I’m limited to the length if I replace the muffler.

I ended up buying Borla ProXS mufflers and some Vibrant resonators. Both are straight thru perforated design with acoustical fiber.
It should help a little bit. Not plug and play, more like cut and weld to install them.

I have a closed car as well and the FFR’s are pretty loud.
I installed 182531 and they are quiet. Maybe too quiet, but good for now. I can swap if I want.

Not yet. I'll get some once I complete assembly. Also, I'll check with my dbA meter.

So I'm done with stage one and waiting to order two. Have 306 installed and was looking at going ahead and running exhaust to get it done and be able to go cart at quieter levels..............what do you all think about 14" glass packs out the back?

I doubt if 14 in glass packs will be considered quiet but I believe they will have a big impact on the level of heat transmitted to the floors. I used old school Porter mufflers on my car which are essentially another variation of the typical glass pack and they are positioned lengthwise right next to the outer frame rails. I don't have any of the heat problems in the floor that so many complain about...and I drive my car barefoot so believe me I can feel it.
I used that DEI "floor and tunnel shield" on the bottom of the floors. On the interior I added those closed cell neoprene adhesive pads (off Amazon) to cover the floor and on top of that added that foil lined bubble wrap type stuff meant for attics that I got from Lowes. Then laid the carpet on top. My floors get slightly warm but no where near as hot as so many guys complain about.

I put 2 sets of car chemistry 3 row inserts into my 289, the sound is very reasonable now.

Apple Watch reports 85Db at about 50mph cruise with windows down. Easy to talk, but no luxury car! Noise level is fine for my expectations and much better than the original load ones.

I just put some Flow FX mufflers on. Basically cut off the FF ball joint and tips and had them welded to the mufflers. Sounds slightly less loud based on just my ears, but sound is deeper and way better. Biggest bonus is heat transfer to cabin is reduced a huge amount!188827

I just finished taking off both FFR mufflers today. As James (RoadRacer) pointed out there is 0 sound deadline material inside them. Just 3 baffles with (1 big hole in each of them) that extends across the full width of the muffler.

Yesterday I welded the ball/socket connections to the Borla mufflers. I’m waiting for UPS to show up (today?) with the insulation to cover them so I can install them. I ordered the insulation from Summit on Tuesday with 2 day shipping.

Got the Borla’s insulated and installed.
They are a little quieter than the FFR mufflers at idle, they have a bit lower rumble sound.
When I boot it it’s still loud but driving at 60 MPH the engine is in only at 1900 RPM and it’s noticeable quieter.
I still need to adjust the windows so they will seal to the top of the opening, that should help some.
