Newbie here. Recently bought a roadster that was started many years ago but never completed. What generation is this car? It doesn't seem to indicate it anywhere on the paperwork that came with the car. It's a 2002.

Many thanks...lots of questions to come:)

Never seen a COO with engine data on it??? I would say that's a Mrk I, or early Mrk II?

Probably a Mkll but some pictures of the frame will confirm. Does it have a center back bone frame around the shifter? are the upper "A" arms adjustable like all the newer cars. Are there round bars in the foot boxes for foot protection? Just a few of the mod's done to the Mkll. My Mkll was produced late 2003 and arrived at my place in Jan 2004, it is #4874

Here are photos of the shifter area and the driver side foot box. Couldn't get a clear shot of the A arms but yes they are adjustable. The passenger side foot box does not have the horizontal round bar.

Your FFR kit is 3315.............

Mine is 3319, delivered in feb 2002 with all of the MK2 changes EXCEPT the backbone structure.

it's an early MK2.

Congratulations by the way. That is a super awesome. I hope you were able to swing a good deal. You should do a "build thread" and keep us up to date on your progress.

Great find! I love seeing these older roadsters getting a deserved new lease on life. As a Mk1 owner without the backbone you done good.
