Quick question as I am just cobbling a kit together to add the rear deck lid struts. Does anyone know what the support weight is for the ones that F5 offers? looks like I got a range of 40lbs to 80lbs to pick from. I know the deck lid isn't that heavy my concern is more stress on the latch when closed. Also incase anyone is interested in doing the same below is the links to the parts I plan on getting to do it I think I got everything covered.

Struts:

Ball studs for mounting to the frame rail in front of the roll bars (I plan on riveting it and not using the screws supplied):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H4WC4YR/?coliid=I14MLF7X82AWRI&colid=2IGREYZVNUVCH&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Ball studs for the lift arms:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8XGL8P/?coliid=I3TUFDWAALSAOJ&colid=2IGREYZVNUVCH&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Total cost for everything $50.00 same as Factory Five. But prime shipping is free and everything is in stock as Factory Five still showing out of stock. Thank you all in advance.

It's going to be dependent on the design and geometry involved. The bayonet style hinge arms from FFR which are designed to lift the lid by applying pressure only when the trunk is raised over center of the pivot point will need a different weight range than the ones like Mike Everson used to make which apply pressure to the end of the hinge "horseshoe" whether the lid is raised or closed. The FFR design does not introduce any pressure to the latch when the lid is closed.

Thank you for the insight. I plan on doing the FFR style as the hinges have the extra hole provision to do it in the hinge. Basically mimicking the parts on this instruction https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/TRUNK-GAS-STRUT.pdf Given that, is 40lbs too light or should I up it? Not sure what kind of force is required to push it open via the hinge. I know going for 150 or 180 would be over kill and would probably make it very difficult to close which is why I am looking at the low end. Or should I consider going even lower between 10 and 20 lbs?

I ordered this kit - doesn't appear in stock now but maybe amazon has another version. It was only $21 for everything and this spec was based on information I gathered from the forums on what others have purchased and matched to what FFR ships.

something like this maybe? https://www.amazon.com/Support-Struts-Spring-Shocks-Hydraulics/dp/B09CMJ332V/ref=sr_1_7?crid=ZUPGOK400WH5&keywords=C1602622&qid=1672867181&s=industrial&sprefix=c1602622%2Cindustrial%2C56&sr=1-7

I think they part number to look for is C1602622

My trunk lid is at the body shop so I haven't been able to test it fully to confirm. I have zero doubts 28lbs will have no issue lifting it.

The struts I received with my kit are 20 pounds for both the hood and the trunk. The hood struts work well. The trunk struts are not strong enough. I may replace them with 30 pound units if I can find a comparable replacement. If using the FFR hinges, I think 40+ pounds would be way too strong.

Thank you very much. I didn't realize it used the same struts as the hood. I was spec'ing a strut way to long. (20" vs the 17" you gave the link for)
