This is supposed to be a question for FFR, but I've gotten no reply on this particular topic after a few emails over the course of the past few months.
Need to know when I can expect chrome rollbars to be shipped out as the body will be painted in about a month and I really don't want to drill roll bars after the body is on.

Since most kits are probably ordered with chrome roll bars and it appears FFR ships new kit orders before POL orders it could be a long wait.
Just go with the Breeze bar, it looks better anyway.

Thanks Mike. Does breeze offer the roll bar in chrome? I can't find that option on the website.

Breeze bars are raw steel and have to be mocked up on the car then welded. Chroming would have to be done afterwards.

Ahh ok. That doesn't sound like an option that I'll have it seems.

The Factory Five roll bars are 1.5" diameter and about 6' tall. They look like paperclips and ridiculous IMO. The Breeze bar is 2" diameter and more conforms to the original Cobra design.
Yes, it's more work. You have to mock it up, weld the diagonal brace on, and then get it chrome plated. But in the end you have a much nicer looking roll bar with no visible bolted joints and a better quality plating job. As they say the juice is worth the squeeze.

Question about the breeze roll bars.
1) Fit up is done before body install, other than hole diameter same general cut out as the stock roll bars?
2) Cost wise, I have not gotten any thing chromed before, but seems cost wise it end up not much price difference from the FFR chrome bars. Any one share therre cost of getting a good weld job and chrome platting?
Thanks for the info, I think I will adjust my order when the time comes.
If you are over 6' the Breeze bar does you no good during a roll over. My head is above the bar with the Breeze, the FFR Roll bar also allows you to wear a helmet for track/autocross and your noggin won't hit the ground if you ever rolled over. I do think the Breeze bar looks better but for actually functionality of a working rollbar the FFR paper clip is a better option.

as of Jun 2021, you could still order the older 2" roll bars from FFR. Thats what i got. Also might not be backordered . . . worth a call to FFR

I've actually never called them. I'm going to try that tomorrow.

Getting anything chromed anymore is a real chore. The EPA rules are so bad it put most really good guys out of business and w that are scattered about that is left is a few bugger large production places. And you usually have to really large order and have to what on them to get around to doing them.
One potential option of chrome-plating isn't viable is to get really gloss powder coating done.

In my experience, the chrome powdercoating still doesn't shine like real chrome. Looks more like polished aluminum. I had my quick jacks chrome powdercoated.
I'm not sure what your body color is going to be but this is a Breeze bar powder coated. Cheap quick and relatively easy. 177965177966

If you look through a Hemmings monthly catalog/magazine there are a large number of chrome shops spread all over the country who can handle a roll bar. I have sent bumpers and trim pieces to several different shops over the years for cars under restoration and had great sucess. They typically will quote a price based on photos and the level of chrome finish you want completed.

I didn't like the tall skinny black FFR roll bar on my Cobra. So, I bought the Breeze bar. Since the holes were already in my body, I mocked it up, welded it and had it chromed locally. The chrome was expensive, but it came out great, and I'm happy with the result.
