I built a Classic Roadsters Cobra 30 years ago and subsequently sold it. Since then, I have been wanting to build another Cobra but kids and life were priorities so I had to wait until retirement, which came a couple months ago.

My complete kit was ordered in April and is scheduled to arrive in mid-January with the BPE 347 which is already sitting in my garage.

I have been reading the build threads on this forum for months and I find them to be very informative and the community is always eager to help another builder. Although I have built one of these, it was a long time ago and I still consider myself a novice, so I look forward to the advice and guidance of everyone on this forum. Hopefully, I can contribute along the way as well.

My plan is for this car to be just for fun and I do not have any aspirations of putting it on the track. I want to just cruise around town (DFW area) and get out onto some curvy Texas backroads (in the fall and spring of course)! I have two grown boys, one in college and the other is a welder and I look forward to spending some quality time with both of them on this build. My girlfriend has a young son that loves cars and I want to include him in this project as well. I've been talking about this project for a couple years and they are all excited that it is about to actually happen.

Here is a rundown on my build:
-Complete MKIV kit set up for small block Ford and 8.8 rear axle with 3-link suspension
-Powder coated frame - black
-Body cutouts
-Power steering
-Stainless headers
-Vintage GPS gauge set
-Vinyl seats
-Dual chrome roll bars
-17" Halibrand wheels
-Wind wings
-Wiper kit
-Vinyl dash with glovebox kit

As with most builds on this forum, I plan to order a bunch of upgrades from the various vendors such as Breeze, Russ Thompson, Gas-N, etc., not to mention multiple trips to the local Ace Hardware, Amazon and Lowes/Home Depot.

Like others, I will be asking a lot of questions and many may have already been addressed in earlier threads so I hope they don't come across as repetitive or dumb. I look forward to the advice of those that have experienced the joy and challenges that a project like this can bring. Your guidance is appreciated, so thanks in advance!

Congrats on the new journey. I am at the tail end of my build. You are at the right place for information for sure. Enjoy the build, ask away on questions and be prepared for us all to help spend your money on upgrades. 😳

Welcome to the forum and congrats! A welder in the family will solve many headaches! He's gonna be on your Santa's "good kid" list ;)

Welcome to the fun! Always great to hear about family members being able to join in. I try not to take advantage of my machinist son too much, but kids with ‘real’ skills sure can come in handy :D

Welcome home :) I suspect with your prior knowledge and the help from your sons you will end up with an amazing build. I ran with a 347 as well and it has been more than enough for these little rigs. You will be happy. The only recommendation I would give is if you get a wild hair the power steering is a great up grade to to increase the caster and improve the handling of the roadster. Look forward to watching your progress.I have two awesome daughters who really just liked the result not the progress LOL! They would much rather hang out with the horses LOL!https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=144100&d=1615425050
Anyway, Congrats!!!! and have fun. I am sure it is gonna be awesome!
