Howdy folks,
I'm wondering if anyone has instructions or guidance on fitting the FFR sound dampening kit? It is quite obvious where many of the pieces fit, however the rest seem to be a bit of a puzzle. The shapes and fit do not tie out to the carpet fit diagram. It also seems that there may be some gaps that needs to be filled with third party products. I am trying to decide if I should go forward with the FFR supplied kit or if I should go another route.

Your guidance is much appreciated!

Tim

I did not get the kit from them as I was not sure what all it covered and ended up doing it all myself with a sound and heat product. To be honest, it was a bigger job then I expected. The stuff is hard to cut and position right. I went through a few tools before my wife came to the rescue with a rotary cutter which I cannot recommended highly enough if you need to cut any. She uses them for quilting, but they are basically wicked sharp precision pizza cutters. I spent hours and went through a dozen exacto knife blades and two pairs of scissors doing maybe 30%. Did the rest in about the same amount of time with one cheap rotary cutter which was much easier.

No response yet from FFR on this topic So I put my Tetris skills to the task and the attached photos are what I came up with. Seems to be a couple duplicates of butyl and foam pieces. I guess for sound dampening purposes this kit would help out but certainly leaves a bunch of gaps so probably not much in the way of heat insulation. I will probably use a few of the pieces but I am going another direction for the most part. I would not buy this option from FFR again.
