Anyone out there with a 351w BluePrint that can send me a photo or two and a quick measurement as to the distance of the starter connector posts in relation to, lets say, the rear side of the engine mounting bracket? I'm trying to cut the wires to length and terminate them as it will be a lot easier to do without the engine in. I have 12v and ignition signal coming from the firewall, and I'm planning to ground it as well, I tapped into the side of the round tube as seen in the photo.

The right side engine mount has a hole in the front side that you can tap with a 3/8-16 thread, clean the paint off and uise it as a ground point

Thanks! I have it grounded to the chassis, now mainly looking for where the starter will be so I can cut all three wires to length :)

Stupid question, but why not wait until the starter is in its final location before trimming wires? I don’t recall that the starter was hard to get to from underneath on my SBF

Like wise..wait till the engine & starter are in place

I'm using 0 awg cables for ground, starter, and alternator, running to and back from a cut-off switch (not ground of course). It would be a lot easier to get them into conduits, routed and mounted where they need to be without the engine in place. All I need is a photo and roughly how many inches are the starter connection studs away from a fixed point on the frame, like the engine mount bracket :)

Not the best pictures, but all I could find.

It's a 351w/427, FFR (energy suspension I think) motor mounts. I can't remember the wire gauge, but was larger than the recommended size.

Ah. This helps a lot. Looking at that second photo looks like one of those gold colored things (professional automotive term) lines up with the front of the starter and the other with the rear edge of the bracket, so that's about 4.5" there. I can work off of that. Your photos also make me realize how much simpler this would have been without a battery cut-off :D

Well, I installed a cutoff switch in my MK4 in 2012 and have never used it!! The original thought was to easily cutoff the battery to work on the electrics and for security, as the battery is mounted in the trunk under the floor.
