View Full Version : Kirkey seat mounts - add height for better visibility?

Anyone using the Kirkey seat floor mounts? I know FFR says to bolt the seats right to the floor, but I wanted to pick up an inch of height for better visibility.
Comments for visibility over the hood with the kirkey racing seats? They seem a little low

I'm using those mounts and Kirkey 65 series highback seats.

I can't imagine not using mounts like these and getting the seat pan/back angle that you need/want let alone mounting them securely.

I used the prior version of those Kirkey seat mounts (I believe that they were revised) mounted on 1" square tubing that was through-bolted to frame tubes or the steel floor.

I just happened to have the passenger seat out of the car- attached are some pics. The passenger seat is set all the way back and I've had passengers as tall as 6'3" with no complaints.

For the driver slide I'm using a slider on top of the square tube (another 1" of height). Same seat and mounts. I set the height that I wanted, being a new unfamiliar car, as high as possible with a helmet on- works well for me both on and off the track.

Getting the seat height and angle worked out before drilling anything was done using stacks of cardboard.

I hope this helps. For me I would not change a thing but the slider is not the best thing in a track car- I may add a back support to the seat.

Those are what I use when installing Kirkeys (also the rear upper mount to stabilize the back).

I have my seats on the Kirky seat mounts on a 1 inch square steel tube and I have the back mounts. Without the back mounts the seat flexed too much. I am 5-10 with long legs and I found the extra seat height helps visibility over the hood.

I too use these as well as the back mount. Makes it much easier to get the seat in the position you like and also raise it up.

Same here, can’t imagine not using mounts with these seats.

I've been thinking of adding something to raise it a bit too and was thinking of adding brackets like the above to put it at a bit of an angle. I do want to warn everyone to get quality ones. I actually split a set of these on my sim racing rig. Made me question them a bit in an actual crash.
