I finally got around to attempting the first start on my MK4 with a Forte Gen 3 Coyote. It took a bit of cranking but it finally turned over. It settled down and was idling fine. After a few minutes some smoke came out of the pipes and it smelled like oil but it stopped smoking after about a minute. The oil pressure gauge pegged at 100 and did not come down. I did not run the engine long as I was concerned about the pressure. Anything I need to be concerned about? Thank you!

Coyotes typically run at 100 for a few minutes when cold.

Thank you! That's a relief.

Hey where's the YouTube video? You know what we say, without the video it didn't happen right.
Congrats on 1st start.

Ditto on what Jeff says about the 100PSi on startup. Usually settles down to about 50-55 at operating temp while cruising.
