FFR sourced Autometer Classics, reversing adapter, Borg Warner T5 from the 1991 donor, black speedo gear.

I must have reassembled something wrong when I set the mileage (just replaced the broken donor speedo), but what?!

Awesome. You built a time machine!

When it gets to 1984 engage the Flux Capacator.

You nsure it is a reversing adapter and not just a 90 degree adapter or something.....

I gather that you have a reverse read speedo? If not, that adapter may be your issue..lol

I went with an electric reverse read speedo, so can't really fathom why yours would read backwards..If you had an electric one I would suggest you wired it wrong..

Just make sure you hit 88 MPH hour first!! Ha, this is a funny (sorry) problem to have!! I love the idea of a time machine-- classic!!

I think the reverse speedo, and resultant interface with the odometer is to blame. I would check there first, as menioned above. Sorry for the chuckles at your expennse!

Steve

Do you mean the speedometer is running backwards? As far a I know, the odometer can't run backwards. Just Ferris Bueller, he tried.

Do you live down under? Do you have one forward speed and 4 reverse speeds? With my new small post count I post stupidly :)

How did you go about "setting" the mileage on the new speedo? If you cracked it open and the speedo is reading correctly but mileage is backwards then you put something together incorrectly.

Do you have an ffr. or a Model T?

If you back up does the odometer run the proper direction?

Speedo not reading at all. Odo runs backward, and I think a fair bit faster than 'normal'. I'm just wondering what's the chance I can reassemble it correctly- all those little gears look the same to me in there.

Last I looked under my dash, I had that same problem . . . took the unit out and re-connected it opposite of the way it was (swapped ends) and everything worked out correctly . . .

Just my 2¢
