I think the intent was to hit 300, but he pulled a "Maverick" and drove it past the edge.

Just a nice Sunday afternoon jaunt. Gotta give him lots of credit for a great run.
Real smooth until he shut down and pulled the chute.

this car is actually faster watch the time on the in-car vid 21 seconds to 300.4 this car shut down at 306 in 22 seconds and was still climbing hard
Johnny Bohmer car at 21 second was at 255.1 it took closer to 2 miles to get to 310

That’s crazy. A good friend of mine was working the control tower that day. He said it was crazy fast.

It wasn’t in TX. My friend works at the Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) at Kennedy Space Center. That was Bohmer’s 310 mph run. NASA has been allowing speed runs for several years now, at least since the end of the Shuttle program, but maybe even before.
