Building a type 65 coupe and need help with seat recommendations. tried a seat from Amazon with the nearly same dimensions as the Corbeau but its impossible to fit in the car because of the leg room I am 5ft 9, Other family members are over 6 ft. Anyone altered the pedals for extra room ? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm also 5'9" and have the Corbeau's in mine. I fit fine. But partly could be a matter of expectations. It's never going to have the space of a DD. Lots of builders taller than me and what you describe figure out how to fit. But to answer your questions directly, yes the pedals can be adjusted. Back and forth based on the holes used on the pedals. Height based on the pushrod at the master cylinder. You'll also find, as many of us have, that shoes make a huge difference. Narrow racing shoes, or something other than your usual clunkers,, also help a lot. It's true the Corbearu seats run into the rear outside corner of the cockpit. Maybe gives away a couple inches of space as a result. Other seats might go all the way back, but I didn't research to much further. That diagonal brace that is the limiter could perhaps be modified. But look how close it is the front of the rear wheels. Not a lot of wiggle room there.

I have the Kirky high backs from FFR mounted on Kirky mounts located as far back as they go. I am 5-10 with long legs, 34 inseam and I have lots of room. My son who is 6-3+ has also driven it and he fits fine.

The "crack back" standard kit buckets actually fit quite well, are comfortable and perhaps offer a bit more visibility. Add the adjustment tracks, it anything for a little more height. Use appropriate padding (e.g.: Longacre) on the roll cage cross-members to null out the crack-back feature ;-)

Did the same thing that LateApex mentioned. Standard bucket low back seats that came with the kit. Added slides for adjustment and ordered some high back seats that ended up not working. The hip area was going to be way to tight, but they did have head rests on them. so with a little modification and some roll bar brackets i ended up with what you see in the pic. I agree the seats are actually comfortable and have protection for the back of my head.

I have the Sparco Grid Q's with the rigid mounts, not sure if I will add the slides. I am 6' and fit well.

I went with the Sparco Evo L seats. It's a TIGHT fit for sure, and as Paul mentioned, it's the rear diagonal brace that is the limiting factor. I actually tilted the seat EVER so slightly (pointing the front at the left front tire). Gave me an extra inch or so. I did NOT do it to the passenger seat, and I'm regretting it as the outside of the seat protrudes too much after I test fitted the out side/rear panel with the wing (hence I'm going to have to reposition that seat). I'm 6'-0" and I fit well. I COULD even push my pedals out a bit further, but alignment with the accelerator pedal gets tricky with the Coyote DBW setup, so I'm happy with where they are

It's honestly not the length from pedals that's an issue. Getting enough room between me and the steering wheel has been a challenge too. Had to shorten up things with the Russ Thompson turn signal stalk a bit - and finding aftermarket steering wheels with NO DISH is harder than imagined....

Rian,

How did you shorten the RT steering column, just cut some of the tube down on the steering wheel side of it?

Rian,
What exhaust are you using?

Yup - cut down the tube, and moved the mounting bolt down 1 bolt (it's not only held by 1 of the machine screws, not 2) I thought I had pics of this, but I just looked and can't find any. Let me know if you want to see, and I'll take some!

Boig quiet pipes. Have the headers coated with Cera-cote. Still need to install the mounting tab so that I can coat the side pipes. Probably going to wait unit the body is painted to chose the color though!
They ARE noticeably less loud......

...cut down the tube...

Do you mean the diagonal tube at the outside corners? I'd recommend some caution there. I have 315's on mine (the max size recommended) and I get occasional tire scuff marks on the other side of that tube in the wheel well. So that's how tight the clearance is. Guys that have gone with larger tires and mods do modify the tube. But just not lot of space to be had in that area.

Thanks for the ideas guys. 6'2" with a broad build (48" jacket size) so looking to squeeze out every inch possible

- Sorry, meant to reply with the original quote - but my reply was meant for RHK118 regarding the Russ Thompson turn signal piece, I cut down that tube and amended the part to be shorter (ie so the steering wheel could be adjusted to be further from my body)

I agree - NO WAY I would cut into the diagonal brace behind the seats!

Thanks Rian, figured that was for me. Looks like options are move his entire mounting plate in a bit or shorten the tube. Did you drill a hole and put a bolt in that second hole then so the RT is still secured in 2 places, or does 1 bolt seem to be enough?
