So I’ve been searching around to find a good answer to this but I’m not finding anything (Mark IV/Coyote Gen3) Engine isn’t installed yet. I’m getting closer to that point. It seems better to install the wiper motor now. Question is, after I mount the motor, do I install the tubing and brackets as well and just leave it where it is? Do I need the body on to properly align everything? Also, at first glance it looks like the cable is too long. Did anyone have to cut it shorter? Is there a reference somewhere on the frame as to where it should extend to without the body installed? Thanks!

The body needs to be on to fit the wheel boxes and cut the tubes to length.

It's actually more critical that you have the windshield mounted before marking and drilling for the wipers in my opinion. It's pretty easy to work with the tubing and wheel boxes even with the engine in place. I also recommend getting some Nickel Copper tubing and skip the stuff that comes with the kit. Once you have everything fit, you'll want to shorten the cable so that it fits in a piece of tubing that is about six inches long on the driver's side after the wheelbox.

Ok makes sense. I’ll just mount the wiper motor for now and leave it alone. At least when my dash is in and wired and can wire the wiper motor too. Thanks for the advice!

I didn’t follow the build manual assembly sequence exactly. I read through multiple build threads and put on all the pieces I needed to make sure the body would be properly located. Put the body on and fit all the exterior parts (roll bars, windshield, wipers, over riders, bumpers and drilled the holes for the Whitby soft top. Then I did all the body work. Took the body off. Cleaned the frame and installed the engine and everything else to complete the car. Painted the body and put it all back together. Don’t know where I read this procedure but it worked very well.

I am not sure I would mount the motor now. Way back when I installed wipers on a completed car it was no big deal to get to the dash side of the firewall to tighten mounting nuts/bolts. I mounted the wheel boxes first and then the motor. That way I could move the motor around a little to make sure that the tube had a nice straight shot from the motor and to the psgr side wheelbox. You want that inside cable to have a nice smooth run from motor all the way to driver side wheelbox and beyond.

Regardless of the car the driveline and body goes on first. Then work the other systems with the main parts in place. Always install stuff with the other parts they interface with. Use this guideline and you’ll find you don’t paint yourself in corners and you’ll drastically reduce rework. Cardboard, string, tape, Cleko’s and foam cut to shape are your friends here.
So in this case get the driveline in, body on and fitted to the chassis. Then install the windshield and wind wings for angle if not doing what FFR calls out. Then do the wiper box cut outs so the wipers park, fit and wipe the windshield correctly. Then install the wiper boxes wiper cable tubes and then wiper motor as it’s dependent on everything else.
