So in a different thread, I ran into someone mentioning that you need a windscreen defroster to pass inspection in Virginia. I was initially planning to just divert all air into the cabin. Does someone maybe have a comprehensive list for VA around things that are required?

You want to reach out to "phileas_fogg" here on the forum, he will give you exactly the information you need.

Also check with the guys from the Capital Area Cobra Club, as they can also steer you in the right direction.

Finally, check out the following URL from the VA DMV/MVS web site:

I don't have a defroster in mine and it has passed two safety inspections so far. If you have a defroster, looks like they just check it for operating condition based on the checklist attached.

I found the actual code - it does say warm air blowing against the windshield - for vehicles manufactured after 1969. If you title it as a replica model year 65, I would think it shouldn't be an inspection point. (I don't have defrosters installed and it hasn't been an issue).

I think it'll also come down to where you go for the inspection. It's probably best to go to an inspection station that is familiar with our kits. I go to Craftsman Auto Care in Mclean, 1387 Chain Bridge Road - they have experience with our cars.

That's an awesome list! I'll think more about the defroster vents. Since I have the heater I might go for it just to avoid issues around it. Looks like I need windshield wipers. Some folks mentioned clip-on/removable ones.

PM JB in NOVA, he's got a set of the removables and could probably steer you in the right direction.

If you need temporary wipers in Northern Virginia, PM me. You can borrow mine. They connect via a "cigarrette lighter" adapter, but you could easily modify for your configuration. They passed inspection, no problem. (I'll need them back for my next inspection, though!)
