Its been mentioned many times before on this site, but I'll add to it with my own experience. First time I filled the take all the way up - it leaked. I even ordered the "ford" gasket but from ebay and wasn't shipped a genuine part. I ordered it again from a ford dealership and it was significantly different and stamped with FoMoCo.

Don't cheap out on this! And don't forget to lube it up with a light coating of motor oil (thanks Rich!)

This one says it's a Ford part. For $35 it better be. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Q6QO7C?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

The tank on my MK4 was leaking too. I thought it was poor design, filling the tank from the side. It was a little fussy installing a new gasket, but the leak stopped. Thankfully!

Y filler tube gasket is still on back order with FFR. Should I just order one?
Don’t u dertsand when I can buy one on line but can’t get with my kit?

The one that FFR provides with the kit is a reproduction. Their vendor is probably out of stock. In any case, I wouldn't plan to use it. Buy the genuine Ford part and toss the other one when it arrives. Too many failures have been reported. It's a safety hazard, IMO.

My replacement from Amazon was actually the Ford original and I've removed and replaced the tank since installing it, no problems. FFR supplies the Dorman OE replacement which is at least 2/3rds cheaper, but is not adequate to do the job. I don't understand why this Dorman product is so bad when all the other Dorman products I've used seemed fine.
