Hi all, I have a Moto Lita Mark Three wood steering wheel from a previous project car that I'm really attached to:

https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/steering-wheels/mark-three-wood-rim-dished/

It's got a 9 bolt pattern, which I assume won't work with the hub that comes with the kit. What are my options for using this wheel with my Mark 4 roadster? Do I have to get a new hub (is this the same thing as a boss?), or is there some sort of adapter that I can use to make it work? If the answer is a new hub, what do I need to look for to find the right one, do they go by diameter of the shaft or something else?

Thanks for the help!

Could adapting this Steering Wheel Quick Release from Breeze Automotive possibly work?

You need to drill the adapter, plus having a steering wheel release would be a nice upgrade.

You could try a spacer from Moto Lita that matches your wheel, then insert helicoils for the wheel and drill the spacer for the Cobra hole pattern. Check the "accessories" tab on the Moto Lita website.

So after doing much more online reading I found that the 9 bolt Moto Lita has a Pitch Circle Diameter of 101.6mm, and it says that the "Cobra Style" is 62mm. If that's the case, I should be able to cut a disc-shaped piece of aluminum and drill the holes for BOTH patterns into it, with the 6 bolt neatly fitting inside the 9 bolt, allowing me to adapt my wheel to the existing hub. Here's a scaled down version with correct proportions. The dotted lines are the PCDs of each bolt pattern.

Could anyone confirm that the PCD for the steering wheel that comes with the FF kit is 62mm? I don't have mine in yet.

And does anyone see any issues with that plan? Seems like it would work to me.

GoDadGo gave you some good advice for a quick release steering wheel. Except I would change it slightly to recommend the NRG SRK-400 version. Several posts on the topic, including this one: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?34975-Quick-Release-Russ-Thompson-turn-signal. Installed one in my Coupe build detailed here: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?26630-Edwardb%92s-Gen-3-Type-65-Coyote-Coupe-59-Build-Last-Details-Gen-3-Oil-Pressure&p=399325&viewfull=1#post399325.

Installation requires drilling and tapping the top half of the disconnect to match your steering wheel. So make it match yours and you're all set. With the added advantage of the quick disconnect feature which is really handy. Doesn't require welding, is compatible with the RT turn signal assembly, and for mine only added 7/16-inch of added distance on the steering wheel from the dash because I slightly shortened the RT tube. Really no downsides. Highly recommended.

I agree with the recommendation of the NRG SRK-400 quick release. I installed one on my roadster build also.

The NRG quick release mount comes pre-drilled for Momo and Nardi bolt patterns (6 x 70mm and 6 x 74 mm). It's not going to be big enough for you to be able to directly drill and tap a 9 x 101.6mm bolt pattern on it. Your best bet will be to pick up a Momo or Nardi to Moto Lita adapter like this one (https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/accessories/momo-or-nardi-adaptor/). It will add a bit of additional stack up but the quick release is pretty slim.
