Hello Everyone. Putting together the FFR fuel tank on my cobra build #10314.

I see there are no gaskets that go along with the sending unit etc. Have any of you used some sort of sealant when putting the fuel tank together? Or is the locking rings tight enough? Please advise. Honest Ernie

There should be an o-ring that goes under the locking ring. Mine came with two, one for the sender and one for the fuel pump.

Thank you Jeffp - I had a second look in the box and found the two o-rings hiding in there.

NO sealant, just a light coat of engine oil on the o-rings when you install them

it looks like the sending unit and fuel pump o-ring are the same part number? Is that correct?

Thanks,

Yup.

Also lots of folks (including me) had issues with the included square profile O-ring leaking. I bought a bag of 10 from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051XXJJ0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1), and now have 8 spares lol.

Never never ever had had a square shaped ring leak. You have to apply some engine oil to them

Thanks. I pulled the access panels and it appears that the leak maybe at the vent check valve anyway. I’m going to drop the tank and see what I can find out.

And most oil filters have the flat, or square o-ring too. I didn’t like spending $20 on two lock rings with o-rings though, so I’ll get that bag of o-rings instead.

The square profile was used by Ford in maybe a 100 million cars
