Hi there all,

After I ran my engine for the first time and was checking the clutch operation by engaging the clutch with the rear axle elevated I noticed the rear wheels turned a little wonky. I have finally gotten around to seeing if I have a problem with my rear wheel spacers/ axle hubs.

Here is a video explaining my findings.

I have an 87 mustang 8.8 that I put summit 5 lug axles into. I am running a 1 inch spacer in the back with the standard Ford pattern. Here it is on the car.

The axle itself measures 62.5-63mm @ the hub , The Factory five brakes have a hub hole at 70.5mm. This doesn’t seem ok. The spacers also look to mate to a 70.5mm hub. How do I rectify this situation without installing different axles? Does anyone know what year model brakes these are that come with the complete kit? That might help the search.

Any advice is appreciated. I am sure I am not the only one to encounter this.

Hub centric rings will solve the problem.

Thanks. It looks like the axle hub is just a hair under 63 mm and I need it to step up to standard 70.5mm center bore for my wheel spacers. Any recommendations for a source for these items? Looking for something well made.

These are probably what you are looking for. Summit racing also has a pretty good selection.

That looks to be perfect. I know my caliper isn’t perfect and it had to be some common mustang part that someone had seen. Greatly appreciated. I will order those. Take care.
