Hi everyone,

Rookie builder here who's very much in the learning stages, so thanks in advance for your patience.

I'm working on installing the IFS upper control arm. The manual says to adjust the length of the arms such that for passenger (right) side, the distance between ball joint and front pivot bolt closest to the chassis is 8.23", and the distance between ball joint and rear pivot bolt is 7.375". So it angles toward the rear. All good so far.

Then for the driver side, it just says to do the same but the solid side of the ball joint plate will face the front. So the arm is basically flipped, but it doesn't say if that means the length specifications above should also flip.

What I mean is... for driver side, is the distance between ball joint and front pivot bolt still 8.23", and distance between ball joint and rear pivot bolt 7.375"? So it still angles toward the rear? Or is it the opposite? I'd think it's the former, so it's symmetrical right to left, but, well, I'm a rookie, so my intuition doesn't mean jack yet.

Thanks!

The arms are not side specific. Make the adjustment so that the forward leg is the same left to right and the rearward leg is the same left to right. I’m assuming that you are aware that the arms need to be assembled so that the ball joint angles outward on both sides and so that the grease fittings con the cross shaft links point up.
