Hey everyone,

I put together my door latches this weekend and test fitted them. I will say I am impressed with the way they work and look. However, there is one issue.... My frame tabs are too short (by about 3/16").

The 31 page door latch manual states that you can include an adapter to extend the existing frame tab. FFR provides the frame tab extension (although not in my box), but I will say it looks like a "jerry-rigged" fix.

I am considering removing the existing frame tab all together and adding a custom frame tab and bolting it to the frame. I can powder it any color or polish it chrome and just have a less "Mickey Mouse" look. Has anyone done this yet?

Thanks in advance.

Ted

I see your point but I think I'd switch to bolts like these

and paint it all black so it somewhat disappears into the black carpet. Might even cut a piece of carpet to cover it all.

Where did you purchase this new type of door latch?

FFR redesigned the door latches that come with the kit. I have them with my 2nd build but haven't gotten to that part yet.

Yes, they now come with the kits. There were several, like me, that got caught in between the redesign of the new door latches and changing the frame tabs to accommodate them. Those that were caught in between had to "modify" their tabs with what FFR supplied them or, if they wanted it to not look strange, they had to make a custom tab. This is what I did:

185504 185505
185506 185507

Anyone know how the new FFR latches compare to something like the Formacar version? Formacar seems to be integrated and a little more seamless versus a box sitting on the inside of the door, but didn't know if anyone had experience with both.
