I'm getting ready to coat the underside of my roadster body. I'm thinking I'd rather do a roll-on product but am open to suggestions. I've also thought about truck bed liner as it seems a bit more robust.
What have you all done?

Duplicolor Bed Armor.
Brushes on easily. Water based easyish cleanup. holding up just fine.

I used Bed Armor for years and it does OK but have switched to Raptor. A little more money and although it can be brushed/rolled on spraying is preferred. In the end I feel that it is a more effective and superior product.

X2 on Jeff's recommendation. I've used several of the air dry brush-on products (both solvent and latex types) and the last two builds switched to UPOL Raptor. No comparison. Haven't tried brushing it on. Only sprayed, so a little more work and as Jeff said costs a bit more. But more than worth it in my experience. Appearance and durability are both significantly better. Available on Amazon.

Upol Raptor X's 3

I've sprayed it, brushed it and rolled it.
The stuff even holds up well for marine applications.
Just keep in mind that your brushes & rollers need to be disposable.

Great info. How much does it take to coat a roadster underside?

If you're spraying Raptor 3 quarts will do the body and leave enough to do the road side of the splash panels.

Agree with Jeff (again). Either the three or four quart (actually it's sold in liters... about the same) kit would do a Roadster, splash guards, and touch up if you need it. Couple of additional comments based on my experience. The "free" gun they sell with some of their kits is an undercoat Schutz gun that's "OK" and can be made to work acceptably by finding the best air pressure and nozzle setting. They sell a higher end gun (UP4880) that's more adjustable and can result in a smoother finish if that's important to you. I used it on my truck build and it's definitely an improvement. Both guns are purpose made for their kits. They have the proper tube length and caps to thread directly onto the bottles of product after you add the catalyst. It's a nice system that's convenient and cuts down on the mess and clean-up. I also found if you add just a dash of 2K reducer to the bottle that also helps it to spray out a little smoother.

Question: can the frame be done with this product as well?

Question: can the frame be done with this product as well?

haven't heard of anyone putting undercoating on the frame. most either get the powder coat option from the factory, or get it powder coated a custom color themselves, especially if they are planning on cutting/welding the existing frame to modify it. I've seen others paint it with POR-15, but seems like a messy hassle.

I wouldn't. It's has some thickness and texture (like all bedliner/undercoat products) and would mess with fitment of everything basically. Don't know what the motivation would be to use something other than the usual powder coat or paint.

Agree 100%, Raptor is the way to go over the old school 3M truck bed liner and their alternatives.

You are better off with brushing on POR 15 (wear protective clothes and HD gloves) to a properly degreased and prepped frame.

If the frame is already powdercoated, you are good to go, as FFR's powdercoating has gotten much better over the past 8 years.

In addition to the potential issues with fitment the rough, grainy texture would catch and hold all sorts of road grime, dust and dirt and look like hell in short order.
