Finally got myself a GoPro. This is my first attempt. Hoping to give some inspiration to those that are spending cold nights in their garage, wondering what they have gotten themselves into...

Next time I'll position the camera to exclude my fat head!
Cheers,

I love it! I want to go visit Australia again someday. Beautiful country and people.

Time to hit the Great Ocean Road. We loved that cruise when we were down there.

I don't see a roo bar on that thing.
You can see the shadow of the roll bar with the Go-Pro mounted on it. Nice drive Nigel. Where did you have the microphone mounted? No wind noise, just a great engine rumble.
Great video, Nigel! I find the landscape fascinating. In a number of places it looks like the road is tree-lined, but the landscape is open farmland/meadow/??? just beyond it. You chose an excellent route!

Great video Nigel! Here in Alabama it was 85ºF today so I am feeling like I am south of the equator LOL!

Lovely compliment. You should really visit again. After all, your winter is our summer! Thoroughly enjoyed the videos you put up. It got me off my backside to get one of my own done. Thanks, Dave!

It's a 7 hour drive to get to the start, but it's on the bucket list.

Roo bar. Cheers Chilly! Hmmm, have been seriously watching out for 'Roos. Luckily they are mostly active on the roads from dusk til dawn. With these tree lined roads I make sure to be ready to hit the brakes hard at any moment. I have hit a couple with my work utes, man they make a mess of a vehicle. BTW, what's a Roo bar called in the states?

G'day Rick, remote microphone is mounted up under the dash, per this video, to try and avoid wind noise. You will notice late in the video that the flasher relay is really audible. I am trying a lapel type mic with a wind sock. OK up to 100kph. Also tried down low behind the seats, but the exhaust sounded terrible. Will keep experimenting. Open to advice.

Thanks, Al. There are at least a hundred roads like this nearby to where I live. You could drive for days and not go on the same one twice. Most of them are rarely used, so I feel totally blessed. I hadn't been on this road previously and it was very bumpy in patches, which the camera corrects, but it does explain some of my unexpected back offs.
Most roads in South Australia have a wide natural vegetation verge each side. My understanding is it was done back in the day to allow for future road widening if required. Nowadays it is claimed to be wildlife corridors for wombats, koalas, echidnas etc. Works for me.

It was exactly the same temperature on the day I recorded that drive. Was glad to find shade when I could. How is your roadster going?
Hopefully will get some more video up soon. If anyone does decide to come visit South Australia, look me up and we will take the car for a run.

Hey Mark,
Maybe it's time to take a holiday down under and find out :)
BTW, you shouldn't doubt your ability, I've seen you facing the opposite direction on the highway. You handled it very well
Cheers, Nige

I think the closest thing we have are "Bull Bars", but they are not typically as robust as some of the Roo Bar designs that wrap around the front of the vehicle and down the fenders. The closest thing we have to deal with here are the deer that are about the same size or larger as compared with a grown kangaroo. They are also more prevalent at dusk and dawn.
