I’ve mounted the standard brakes and pads on a rear rotor, attached to the spindle. It’s not attached to the chassis yet as I’m waiting on parts. Anyway, it seems the calipers are super tight to the rotor, I can’t spin it but admittedly have little leverage since it’s not attached to anything yet. Should they be tight to both sides of the rotors when installed? They look well centered.

If you can slide it on the rotor, it'll be fine. the excess material will grind away eventually. once you have a tire on, you'll have more leverage. as long as the pads are centered you should be fine. lastly, make sure the caliper pistons are compressed as that may help.

Did you rotate the piston all the way in?
