IRS axle issue in my Coupe (http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/282440-irs-axle-issue-my-coupe.html#post2581308)

Basically, the axle spline going into the diff is too long and is bottoming out, not allowing the c-clip to engage and hold the half-shafts in.

I had the same problem with mine and wanted to give FFR a heads up that this could be a safety issue.

I really like the fact that the IRS now comes with the complete half-shafts and you don't have to piece-part the CVs, etc anymore, but this should be addressed or a notice / build-sheet / manual update needs to be issued identifying the modification required to make them fit properly.

Thanks FFR! And BIG Thanks to Ryan_W

Ryan's donor shaft was strange. Our shafts are the same as a normal OEM axle shaft. We have already looked into one case like this and it looked like someone had modified his carrier.

The first picture shows Ryan's donor axle and the FFR axle. The second picture shows another Thunderbird axle next to our axle.

It is possible that different donor cars had slightly different axle shafts, but the ones we supply are a direct replacement for a Thunderbird. I will let the engineers know that there was another case of this.

What donor car did you have? Year and model?

Best regards,
