Hello ,

I am a newbie in the ff5 world , I would like to buy a nice MKII but it have a Mustang rear train with drum...

is Someone could tell me if it's possible to change the rear train for an IRS with brake disks in the future?

you're referring to the rear suspension, correct? you can swap the 4 lug to 5 lug and do a brake swap from drums to disks, but you won't be able to covert it to IRS.

You can also convert it to a 3 link from the old mustang 4 link and will get much better performance from the rear. It adds a surprising improvement on stability.

Yes it's about the rear suspension
Thanks for your answer,it's not possible because the chassis is different?

correct. frame is different for the 3 or 4 link set up and the IRS set up.
I guess anything is possible if you can fabricate/weld your own stuff.

Actually the pre-Mk4 chassis can be retrofitted for the old Super Coupe IRS. Factory Five used to offer a kit to do so but it was not a simple bolt in undertaking. They probably haven’t built one for years but they don’t ever dispose of the old jigs and conceivably could produce it. The question is, should you? Unless you’re looking for a project I wouldn’t… They also make a retrofit kit for 3 link on pre-Mk4 cars. It’s not nearly as involved as IRS but still requires a good bit of deconstruction, cutting, drilling and fitting.
