cross posted as well

pulled off my door latch because it was binding a bit after trying to make some door position adjustments.

anyway, I have already done the "Wade" carriage bolt modification and noticed that my lever has a lot of drag on it, even if the carriage bolt is loose.

there's a wavy washer on the pressed in part of the latch mechanism. do I need to graphite or lubricate this? Lever won't return to starting position unless I manually move it.

I had removed the lower spring per Kleiner's recommendation and wonder if I need a stronger spring on the piston to push the piston/lever back in starting position.

TIA

I filled up the inside of my latch mechanism with lithium grease and it helped a ton. Maybe not "filled up, " but I greased everything. I even grease the pin which also helps the door shut with minimal force.

It's been a while since I did the latch mods, but if I remember right, I left the spring washer out. Just snugged the ny-lok nut so that the pivot was free and no binding. With a touch of white grease as well.

Does it move freely when off of the door but snugs up when installed? If this is the case you’ll probably find that the part that rotates is contacting the door (or spacer if one was used) on the backside of the latch keeping it from moving freely. If so cut the glass away or relieve around the hole in the spacer.

latch is off the car and still binds. at first I noticed that the lever was twisted a bit, making contact w/ the chrome cover when pulled forward. I'm pretty sure it's related to the actual pivot point and wave washer as it still binds despite having the carriage bolt loose. I'll grease it up and see what happens. I'll also grease the piston/plunger just in case.

Any chance you could have sand/grit/dirt between the latch and bore.

I was able to use a drill & grinding compound to seat my parts.
