33 - Grille interference with new chassis bracket?

Hi guys,

Last week I put together my grille/condenser/radiator/fan assembly...but they didn't fit on the chassis. It appears that the new support brackets with the raised headlight hole are interfering with the hood hinge bracket on the grille. Any suggestions?

All you need to do is install the hinge brackets on the correct sides, you have the right on the left and the left on the right! If only the pictures in the manual were better! Some Day!

Thanks Dan! I swear they showed them that way in the A/C instructions, I'll have to double check.

Even with the hood hinge plate switched, I think the new bracket will still hit the assembly where the radiator tab mounts to the grille.

You are correct about flipping the hinge brackets with the installation of the condensor. It is quite possible that that scenario was not taking into consideration with the new grill/headlight mount design. A little hard to tell from the pictures but could your radiator be mounted a snick too low? Have you contacted FFR?

The radiator tab is centered on it's mount on the grille, so I think it is right, but I could be wrong. I spoke with someone on the tech line about this last week and then sent them the same pictures as above, but haven't heard anything back from them at this time.

If you switch the brackets for the hood hinge the grill mount should bolt up ok. The other option you have is to cut the top headlight mount section off of the grill mount plates. They are useful if you have the full fender kit so you can mount your lights above where the fender sits. If you are running no fenders or the bike fenders, you will not need the top hole.

Try switching the hood hinge brackets first. If you can't because of the A/C, consider cutting the upper headlight hole off of the grill mounts.

The hood hinge brackets make up part of the spacer to keep the condenser off of the radiator. If they're switched, they will have to sit behind the radiator tab...so I don't think switching them side to side is such a great idea. And I do have full fenders...so it sounds like the chassis bracket just won't work for my set-up and I need to figure something out huh.

You could mount your headlights on the fenders like we did on this car. Then you could cut the grill mounts and everything will fit.
