The weather is changing, and I need install the body on the frame in order to continue prep and panel alignment. Do I need to install the bulb seal if I intend removing the body for paint? Also, I measure the cowl edge (overhang) as 13/16 inch from the dash top to the instrument dash. Do I need to trim it and if I do "How wide should it be?" Many Thanks

no need to trim the overhang on a mark 3. Just make it all look even. I would install the bulb seal. It could affect the way the body sits. If its going to be there in the end then put there while fitting.

Yes to the bulb seal if you intend to do fitting and alignment. The Mk3 and earlier bodies make a 90 degree turndown and overlap the top of the dash (different than the 180 degree return on Mk4’s). Any trimming is only to clean up the cut and make it consistent.

Ok guys, have to ask...
I have a MK4 that I am ready to install the body on. Do I not have to trim the cowl either?
I am using the vinyl dash.
Thanks all,
Ray

Usually trim 1/4-1/2” off the lip of the cowl
