Just got mine delivered. Any tip or tricks I should know about before/when I install them. I will be removing the BBK headers (347 CI) currently installed.

Thanks
Doug

I got some delivered a couple months ago. There was a detailed install sheet Georgie put in the hardware box for me.

Would suggest having some wedges on hand, more than likely will need them. You order the wedges from Breeze, he will let you return whatever you do not use. My install on a 351w/Ball flange FFR headers used three wedges on drivers side and nothing on passenger side. If you dont need any wedges on both sides go buy a lottery ticket :D I was not super impressed with the fitment but this seems to be the norm with installing Gas 'n pipes.

If you do use the wedges you will need to use longer bolts as well, plan on visiting your local hardware store

Yeah, I've installed several sets and have found that you might need a wedge...or 2...or 3...or..........

I have a curiosity question. With my kit I ordered the 351W stainless headers and pipes from FRR. They look to be well built with a nice thick flange and ball joints. What is the advantage of the GASN headers & pipes? I've heard they're quieter but that doesn't do much for me, it's a Cobra!

I installed GASN headers and sidepipes on my car. For the headers, check all bolt holes. I initially just mocked it up using just the end bolts, and I figured everything else was fine. Oops! The second bolt hole from the back on both headers was slightly off. It worked out OK on the driver's side - not so much on the passenger side. I should have enlarged that bolt hole on the driver's side but didn't. It's OK but I wish I had. For the passenger's side, I enlarged all the holes. Should have done it a little more. Again, it's OK.

Also, GASN supplies 12-point header bolts. In my case, I couldn't get a wrench on many of them. I think I have the 2-inch bolt pattern. Not much clearance between the bolts and the header pipes. Indenting the header pipes more was a frustrating and unproductive experience! I used 6-point header bolts instead. Better than 12-point bolts, but one bolt was a real PITA to tighten!

Good Luck!

I received a set of GAS-N headers and Touring Pipes a few months ago. I was delighted to see they came with an adjustable collector collar that precludes the need for wedges. Infinitely variable pipe angle, within a set rotational parm of course.

The photos Jeff posted of all the wedges were from my car. My drivers side, sidepipe, is roughly 1.75 inches off the ground due to the flange being off. Jeff used smaller bolts to gain some rotation, but it needs a little more. The sidepipe and header will be coming off soon to open the flange holes up to allow for proper rotation of the pipe tip. If I get too thin on the flange, I have a welder at work that can build it up so it's as strong as ever. I wish the new design had been available when I was building.

Did this earlier this year. The pipes are well made and the adjustable collector collar is nice, but even so I needed a couple of wedges and spacers to get the pipes symetrical and as perfect as I could get them. I also used allen head bolts as I find that easier to get going. One thing to keep in mind, as neat as the adjustable collector collar is, it doesn't lock down the pivot enough to rely on the clamp alone. I made a trip to my local Midas muffler shop to have them put a few stitch welds to hold everything in place. The stainless is pretty, but I heat wrapped them anyway (to keep temps down and it looks cool). Make sure to test fit the headers on the heads without spark plugs in (too easy to break them) and make sure the bolts start, I had to enlarge a few of the holes with a file. BTW, I have used stainless bolts for 12+ years with a special collar that keeps them from backing out and have a 5/16 hex head which makes it easy to get a wrench or socket on them (https://www.affordablestreetrods.com/5-16-wrench-head-header-bolts-6-point-12-count-6-6.html).

My biggest learning was the open holes are designed just to hang on top of the bolts. You do not need the bolts to lineup, you just thread the bolts and then hang the header on top of that. Made it much, much easier…

I received my bolt package from GASN today. Included were the header bolts to head and header to side pipe bolts. Also included were gaskets for both and instructions/useful install tips. I will use Permatex Ultra silicon for the head to headers. It was previously asked why GASN? They are good quality and Georgie was able to deliver. GASN new style headers also have the adjustable ball joint just like FFR headers and an O2 sensor port. Pics to come after installation.

After you start driving for awhile you might find that loud side pipes start to wear your ears down. I actually wear ear plugs on freeway and longer drives, even with the Gas N touring pipes they are by no means quiet. Your engine size will also play a factor in the sound, there is a big difference between a 302 vs 427, the Coyote also throws a different sound level. The FFR pipes also get louder because the packing starts to blow out, this I was told will not happen with Gas 'n pipes.

Agree 100%. There are times when I miss the angrier sound of the burned out FFR pipes, but these pipes have auger-type baffles that produce a mellower note, not near as harsh. It still sounds like a Cobra, just not as angry. For drives longer than 10-15 minutes, I wear a ear plug in the left ear, for the exhaust but more for the wind buffeting. I wear hearing aids now (or at least I should be wearing them, they were expensive!) and have tinnitus. Hearing is more precious when you lose some it.

I just took a 45 min drive today and had ear plugs in the entire ride. The noise cancelling plugs are nice, you still hear the side pipes just at a lower decibel that won't harm your ears.

For anyone looking for a good ear plug these are very comfortable and really do a nice job of dropping the decibels down...
