Hello all - dropping my first line on the forum with plans to frequent, if only to lurk and poach knowledge.

Kit on order after a great build school session earlier last month. Complete kit with Blueprint 347 on order - kit arriving mid May per projections, BPE delivery 12-14mo from Sept 2022, I have been told. Looking forward to the build, the challenge, the learning, the community - oh, and the end result!

Thanks, and have a great night!
- Matthew, from the Upstate in South Carolina

Welcome Aboard But More Importantly, Welcome To The Factory Five Family!
...............................A Grand Adventure Awaits You!

Suggestions:
1. Get the manual and read it a few times while you wait for your kit to arrive.
2. Check out the build threads from Edwardb because they really supplement the manual.
3. Watch the Factory Five assembly videos because they will help you see what you'll be doing.

Good Luck & We Know You'll Find That The Journey Is Worth Taking!

Assembly Video #1:

There are plenty of FFR's around, or those of us who used to own FFR's with build knowledge. Where (a town perhaps) in the upstate are you located?

A little short notice, but there is the monthly Cars & Coffee at the Michelin corporate building tomorrow morning from 8-10am
Another smaller show at Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest, this one for Shriners Hospital, starting at 10am till 2 or 3pm

I won't have my cobra at either, most likely the 70 Shelby convertible instead. Feel free to stop out and say hello

Welcome Matthew! I just started my MK4 build in August. Not sure where in the upstate you are, but if you find yourself in Fort Mill, feel free to drop by!

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome and well-wishes. I am located in Anderson, SC - so not too far from a few of y'all. Excited to get going, but as mentioned, lots of research and prep to do - and maybe a trip to ATL to see Alec and Marco's build progress!

We are fitting the body onto our fully working go-kart. Your kit arrived? woo-hoo!

I'm building a house near Easley SC. Moving from Florida. How is the "environment" for SC for hotrods? I have a 35 Hotrod Pickup, no fenders no wipers. Which is legal in Florida. Am I going to have a problem in SC?

There is no annual state inspection or emissions inspection, you'll need your FFR supplied MCO, then state form "MV-82" (title and registration form) and form"4038" (affidavit of specialty constructed vehicle). Form MV-82 is straight forward, form 4038 requires a trip to the local DMV or state police office with at least your frame on a trailer so they can see the VIN on the MCO is permanently affixed to the frame. If it is not there, or hidden, you'll need to have a tag made, then pop rivet it to your frame in a place it can be seen. SC will use the FFR supplied VIN, I suggest if your MCO does not show a year, that you get them to title it as a 1965 or other 20+ year old vintage year. I say this as SC as a personal property tax on all vehicles (Not trailers). You also need to stop at the local tax office and pay your property taxes ahead of going to the DMV, a copy of your FFR invoice for the kit will work, I'd have a file with everything else in case they ask, but I would not offer more then they require.
Easily has a Cars and Coffee once in awhile, the bigger ones are in Greenville at the Michelin corporate building off RT85, and the newest one, which is a partial transition of the Michelin C&C is at Bridgeway station
just off RT385 in Mauldin. All less than 50 minutes from downtown Easily.

Any other questions, just let me know.

Nice, you'll enjoy the beach in the low country, uncertain of the automotive gatherings there as it's a good 3.5 hours from us here in Greenville

Eeek, property taxes? How much is that going to be? How do they calculate it?

Also, No fenders ok?

Depends on if the car is already titled, in which case they will go off the year on the title (anything older than 20 years is roughly $30/year). If you are doing initial title, they will use the invoice from FFR.
My ERA 289 FIA, being titled in a vintage fashion is $27.40/year
My 70 GT350 Shelby $34.00/year
My 65 Sunbeam Tiger $34.00/year
