If you have your state issued VIN engraved on it you might want to check with the BMV or inspection department because they may tell you where it is to be placed. The cars that I've had come through here from a variety of states (19 different states at last count!) have had them under the hood on top if the drivers footbox, on the passenger footbox top, on the square tube below the steering column, on the vertical tube the the driver's door hinge is attached to...seems to be no nationwide standard.

4 years ago in Va the state employee who looks over the car as part of the titling process told the owner where he should put the tag.

I riveted my FFR tag to the top surface of the radiator shroud sourced from Breeze.

Mine has been sitting on my desk for the last two years waiting for me to get off my backside and get the Colorado issued VIN engraved and then I'll mount it wherever it makes sense down the road (maybe). :o

I am going on 5 years with mine. The serial number on the frame is my VIN. No need for the data tag. Maybe one of these days I'll rivet it to the top of the driver's side footbox.

A new builder near me had his inspection very recently and they told him the only requirement was that it had to be "visible to the public" when mounted. He put his on the d/s
"FF panel.

In Colorado, the State Patrol VIN guy decides where to put the official VIN plate. The FFR tag isn't official, so it can go anywhere. I put mine where I put just about everything else:

Ideally, it should be permanently installed, on something that is permanently installed (not easily removable). I also placed it on top of the PS footbox.
