Hey all,

I'm going through the process of wiring the battery relocation from Breeze. I'm not a wiring expert and had a few questions about the instructions that came with the kit. I didn't pose this question to Mark, even though I know he'd be more than glad to help, to leave the trace of it here so others like me can benefit from it.

Step 12 talks about installing the ground jumper, which is the little 10 gauge cable, and attaching it to the x-member. What is the purpose of this, since we're already connecting the battery negative terminal to the chassis using the 4 gauge wire?

Instructions also show photos of the 4 gauge wire being drilled and attached to the 4" tube, and then from there to the engine block. Is this necessary? ie does the engine need to be grounded separately?

Wouldn't hurt to ask Mark. I'd be curious too. I've installed several of those kits and never installed the smaller ground jumper he describes.

Yes, the engine definitely needs it's own ground. Probably overkill, but years ago it was recommended to me to always have two engine grounds. One on the side with the starter. From under one of the starter mounting bolts to the chassis. Into the same spot as the ground off the battery is fine. I've done that too. Makes it positive the starter is getting a direct solid ground. Then another on the other side from the block to the chassis. Engine ground is especially important on EFI setups.

Engine needs to be grounded. Some of the senders are grounded through the block.

As Edwardb says, having two grounds is a good idea. I ran one 4 ga. ground from under one of the starter bolts (can't see that end in this photo) to the engine mounting bracket on the frame, and a second 4 ga. ground from one of the engine mount bolts to the spot where the battery negative is bolted to the 4" tube.

Ah, good to know. I was under the assumption that the engine is grounded by default through the mounting brackets to the chassis.
