Radiator fan options

These FFR radiator fans are very loud, has anyone found fans that are compatible with the Breeze shroud that aren’t quite so noisy when running?

Funny you should ask. I just changed out my motor for a 427 and heat had become a concern. I do not like the sound level of the FFR fan, so I went on Summit and looked for a replacement. Found one that flows almost 1000cfm more and half the noise and bolted right onto my breeze shroud. Here is the part number and its on sale! FLX-105390 $129

I must be doing something wrong... :rolleyes: Can't hear the cooling fan with the engine running and especially when driving. I have a "fan running" indicator light on my dash. That's the only way I know it's running. I have the kit fan in a Breeze shroud. No question there are quieter fans with more CFM. But haven't found the need.

On my roadster with a gen2 coyote I installed a Maradyne PWM fan controller (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mar-mfa136?seid=srese1&ppckw=pmax-vf-maradyne-high-performance-fans&gclid=CjwKCAjw1920BhA3EiwAJT3lSXHXI0jUqfANf5pX-KZ-MsZ93MTWzW8oI5NT8NgpZwi-e0eb9VMSRRoClisQAvD_BwE). The gen2 coyotes were notorious for turning the fan on early and leaving it on at full power pretty much permanently, which was very annoying. With this controller you can set the on temp, and it will initially turn the fan on at 1/2 power and only kick on to full power if needed. I've never heard the fan come on at full power. I agree with everyone else that the stock FFR fan with the Breeze shroud will be plenty, and if you don't want to hear the fan running at full power you can add this controller.

+1 on the 16" Flex-a-lite that ggunter recommended. Have been using it for over 3 years now with a 500+ hp 427 and it cools with no issues and is also much quieter than the FFR Fan. It will also bolt right up the Breeze shroud with no problems.

I also ended using the flex-a-lite and works fantastic. Much quieter. Also replaced the FF fan in my roadster as well, Coyote runs much cooler now.

I'm with edwardb. I cant hear it when the car is running. I upgraded my fan from the one FFR supplies with the one mentioned above. with that and the Breeze shroud so far so good with cooling. I also run a modulated fan controller from "the autocool guy". this regulates the speed of the fan allowing it to ramp up or down depending on the cooling needed. I am also pushing over 500hp. Gordon L 408 motor.

i can say that this was my biggest worry when building my coupe. Living in central TX summers here can be brutal. My last car (street strip 406 vega) i could never keep cool.

So far (no ac running) ive been able to sit in traffic with out over heating. temps were 98 with high humidity. yes it got hotter but never over 200. not for sure if it would have stayed under 200 if i had the AC running. working out a leaky AC system.

I hated the sound of the FFR supplied fan. I actually went with a lower CFM for my 427w and I still never get over 190*. Currently running about 1500 CFM with no issues. I did however, have to create new hole in the Breeze shroud. I think the Breeze shroud is critical here too.

I also have the fan controller form the AutoCool Guy and it works great - much better than the Maradyne unit.
