Today was I invited to a car show as part of this event: https://m1concourse.com/asf-home/. Peter Brock was the special guest. The Coupe was part of a class called "Shelby / Cobra" that included Shelby Mustangs, replica and original Cobras, Superformance Daytona Coupes, three McCluskey Daytona Coupes, etc. Pretty fast company to be part of. There were a number of other classes, but since this class was kind of featured, we were invited to form a line and do a parade lap around their 1.5 mile track. We were near the end of the line, and just as we were about to start moving, a golf cart drove up and someone got off. Immediately recognized Peter Brock was walking toward us. At first just opened the door, said hello, and shook hands. But that wasn't good enough. Shut the car down, climbed out, and had a brief but nice conversation. He was super complimentary of our Coupe, asked if it was the latest Gen 3 version (knows his Factory Five!), and said to say hello to Dave Smith. A real gentleman. Of course, had to get a couple pictures. What an honor that was.

That's really cool. He must really enjoy seeing the following the coupes have 50+ years later.

Paul,
What can I say but, Wow!
The closest I've ever gotten to meeting Mr. Brock was looking at one of his Aerovault Trailers.
Very Cool Experience & Thank You So Much For Sharing It With Us!

Very cool Paul. Funny thing is, I got a couple of texts from Hank, who was also there - he sent me a photo of “7 and #18 built in 60s with original bucks to spec, never raced” and Hank told me that “Paul from forum supposed to be here tomorrow, hoping to see his car and talk for a while“, to which I replied that it be great to meet Paul!
And I am staying at a timeshare in Maine this week but am currently in Boston going to the FFR factory this afternoon and then stopping by to meet Hank in person on Friday in Portland Maine! What a great “hobby” we have here that allows us connect up and share a common passion.

If anyone ever gets the opportunity to meet Mr. Brock......Take full advantage
He is the one of the most memorable strangers that you will ever meet, and when you talk with him, you will come to the conclusion that he is merely a friend that you had never met.
He comes out to the Boulder Shelby American collection quite often for their annual open house, and I have had the honor of talking with him several times.

I wish. It was a spur of the moment thing. Wasn't prepared for that.

A big part of the reason I went to this event was Paul mentioned he would be there with the Shelby club on Sunday if weather was good, and clearly it was. His car does not disappoint and if mine turns out 3/4 refined as his I will be a happy boy. It was great to thank him in person for all the help he has personally given me with my build and everyone else here. Was great to talk to Paul and see the fine details that he nailed on his car, lots of photos taken for reference.
However one memory I will never forget will be watching Peter Brock have his driver stop the golf cart he was in, hop off and run over to have Paul stop his car in line, Peter himself took 2-3 pictures of Paul's car, and then of course had them stop to get out and chat. WOW , that is a deserved honor Paul. I was able to meet Peter the day before and he spent 5 minutes with me just chatting. Shelby is a bit of a thread in my life through my dad, and hence my love of the Type 65. He's very familiar with the Gen 3 and said FFR "does a great job,"...just an impressive guy in terms of his willingness to make himself available to everyone, share really interesting stories, yet is so very humble. Integrity. It was an honor to meet him. But Paul that was a seriously cool moment and am so happy for you! I have some pictures but am back at work "paying the piper" so to speak for the couple days I took off, and will get them up when I have a chance.

Many have said that Carroll Shelby's success was because he surrounded himself with great engineers and designers. Peter was one of them.
I had a chance to meet him at the Cobra 50th at Laguna Seca back in 2012. In spite of him being a legend in his own right, and could be considered a celebrity at such an event, he was a down to earth, super friendly guy. He was quite happy to hang out at the Cobra Corral with a slew of FFR builders, just yacking and having pictures taken.

Hey Hank. It was great everything came together. It was a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for the generous comments about my Coupe. Good luck with yours. It's an awesome car. Love hearing the "rest of the story" about meeting Peter. Aspects there I didn't know about. Just adds to the great memory. Would enjoy more pictures when you get a chance.

He wanted to sell me one of his beautiful trailers... I had to tell him that I'd have to sell my car to afford it...

That's awesome, Paul. I've met Peter and Gayle and they are down to earth, genuine people. Peter loves all the different coupes and will stand and talk with you for as long as you want. He picked a good coupe to check out, Paul. I'm sure he loved your coupe

Thanks Garry. I posted this pic in my truck build thread. But will also post here since it's more on topic. This picture from Hank (above) with another view of Peter and I getting our pictures taken. Pretty cool view of the Coupe too.

Not to hijack your thread, but I also echo the sentiments the Mr. Brock is a very gracious down to earth person.
