I got the chassis back from the upholstery shop yesterday, and the carpet is now complete so I'm working on little odds and ends while I wait for the body to be painted. I installed the harnesses and have mocked up the seats and I'm wondering if I can go ahead and install them. I know the conventional wisdom is to wait until the body is on to permanently install seats. The reason I'm asking now is 1) it appears to me that there's plenty of clearance between the seats and where the body will end up, and 2) quite frankly there's not a lot of wiggle room on where the seats can/will go. They're centered side-to-side between the harness mounting bolts and can move laterally about 1/4" maximum. They're mounted on the Breeze angled bases and are pushed all the way back as far as they can go. They are angled to match the angle of the trans tunnel, which points the driver's seat nicely toward the steering wheel. There's approximately a 1" gap between the back of the seat and the rear cockpit wall.
To my eye, this looks like it will clear the body with plenty of room but if the experienced builders say to wait, then that's cool too.
Thanks!
