I have found a few pictures of the FFR 289 on 17" wheels, but not many (understandably). Would love to see more if anyone has any. Thanks.

Well played. Seriously though -- I think the 15's look best and are more true to the 289 body, but just curious if the 17's are a good option without looking out of place. Guessing no more so than 18's on the 427.

I wanted to the tallest tires possible in an attempt to get that 15" look.
I end up running 245/45-17 and 285/40-17 on my MK-4 using 17X9 and 17X10 wheels.
While it isn't a 289 FIA, it might give you a reference since most folks run the shorter 315/35-17 on the rear.

I would say no more than 17's on a 427 body, which I think look very good. Not traditional by any means, but very good.
