View Full Version : Question regarding the quick release steering wheel unit
Awhile back a bunch of people installed the NGK, NGR, hell I don't remember the name of the unit. Anyhow, I did it as well and up till now I've just been using the bare steering wheel without the center piece. Decided to install it, so I brought the steering wheel into my office and pressed the center piece in. Well, it turns out that the area just behind the steering wheel center is wider than the hole in the steering wheel, so the center piece just flops around after passing the wheel itself. What did everybody do to make the center lock in place since it just has the O-ring to hold it? Thanks for the help.
OK, so it was the NRG quick release. Had to look it up since it was driving me crazy!

Interested in seeing thoughts here. I have one, but haven't installed it yet. I've been looking at these two threads for info when I get to it

I glued the center piece in with silicone. Not particularly serviceable. But doesn't matter because with the quick release setup, it's no longer necessary to remove the center piece to remove the steering wheel, access the steering column bolt, etc.
Thanks Paul, I didn't even cosider that path. Did you use any particular silicone, or just the same as for adhering the aluminum panels?

I don't remember to be honest. Might have used some of the silicone from the build. Or some clear that I keep in my adhesives box. Most anything like that should work. Hasn't moved since I glued it in several years ago.
