Well, after almost 10 years of screwing around with this build, I've reached the point where the only things left are minor, and I'll take care of them this winter. Tomorrow, I go to the in-person BAR referee appointment, and then hopefully I'll have plates! Bill D. and I started our builds about the same time. His body from Mr. Bruce was the one made just before mine. As I've told Bill many times, I don't plan on parking mine next to his so that no one can compare our builds! Anyhow, I figured I'd post up some pictures.

Ken Pike did the paint. He did an amazing job, as usual.

Great looking machine, man 10 years is long time!!! If I started that today I'd be 80 (or probably dead ) before I got it done. Congrats and enjoy it.

Dave, it depends on how it goes today, but I'll try. It'd be great to see you.

Jeff, thanks so much! Coming from you means a lot to me!

Blitzboy, thanks, I hope to get a bunch of miles on it!

ggunter, yeah, 10 years IS a long time. I told my wife that now at 72 I'd never be able to do this build again. Just putting it back together after paint just about destroyed me!

Three cheers, for finally getting it to this point!! It looks fantastic. I hope you enjoy driving it after all the blood sweat and tears..

I don't know if all the forum members know the challenges involved to build yours and Bill's cars, and adapting the Mr Bruce 289 body. (John O's car is another fine example, but I can't remember if he had one of Bruce's bodies?) It far surpasses what the average FFR build takes. This is what it took if you wanted a 289 body back then, as FFR didn't have one. The FFR 289 USRRC didn't exist yet.

Thanks Bill. And to think if we had just waited a bit over a year, we could have purchased the full kit from FFR and avoided all the drama!

Zach, Fman, and Straversi, thanks for the compliments. Just a couple of odds and ends to finish up.

As a note, I went to the BAR referee today and it turned out they had already pre-approved me because I took care of everything they wanted and submitted it through the virtual referee earlier this year. So I went to DMV and now I have plates so it's legal!

Can I ask a dumb question? Is this body different than the FF 289 body? This car is outstanding, nice work!

I'm not sure how similar or different the Mr. Bruce body is from the FFR 289 body. Just know that it was a bunch of work that if I could have avoided it, I would have. Thanks for the compliment!

I believe FFR bought a set of molds from Bruce but didn’t start producing for a few years.
