So, it's finally "that time" in my build. Motor goes in tomorrow! I expect 1 or 2 things to come up, so I wanted to get some input from any of you that have gone before me....

1) I've seen some different input on the transmission mounting plate position. The manual show it "on top" of the tabs like this

I've seen other folks install it on the bottom of the mounts, so in essence "hanging" via the bolts. I'm assuming that is the case in order to improve the alignment of the driveshaft? I'm wondering if removing the top plate of the mounting bracket would allow for the plate to be "on top" though? Any input on why/why not to take this approach? It doesn't seem like that top plate between the rubber mount and the transmission is really there for much of a reason....

2) I've removed the steering shaft from the car, but should I remove anything else to ease installation? I know Paul B. removed the Alternator (though I think that was due to interference with the steering shaft, so shouldn't be an issue?) Has anyone else had issues with the direct injection pump on the P. side? I would remove it, but I'm not crazy about opening holes into the intake if I don't REALLY need to. That said - I don't wanna bang it up either......

I'm probably overthinking it, but whatever......lol. Any other words of advice welcomed.

Can't add too much over what I posted in my build thread. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?26630-Edwardb%92s-Gen-3-Type-65-Coyote-Coupe-59-Build-Complete-and-Graduated&p=347736&viewfull=1#post347736. Yes, for sure take the steering shaft completely out. Found that out mid-installation. The alternator can be left on and the engine will go in without the steering shaft. But then I wasn't able to install the LH header with the alternator installed. You may/may not have the same situation depending on the headers you have. Mine were from Gas-N. Order is important on the other side too. I left the starter motor off but found out later it too interfered with my headers. So put the starter motor on first, either outside the engine compartment or after installed. Then the header. I removed the DI pump (not hard) because if you're not super careful it will drag on the frame side as the engine settles into place. Either doing damage to the pump or scratching the powder coat. Once the engine is down, it clears OK. Put tape over any openings if that concerns you. Highly recommend removing the shifter on the T-56. Makes it much easier to get into place. I did end up with my trans mount on the bottom. Alignment to the diff but also because the shifter was too tight to the underside of the transmission tunnel cross braces. You can sort it out after the engine/trans is installed. That's what I did. Can't comment about removing that plate on the Energy Suspension mount. My sense is it's there for a reason plus that wouldn't have been enough difference. So never considered it. Granted gravity says having the trans mount on the top is safer. But those are big bolts holding it in place and the main weight is on the motor mounts and somewhat balanced back there. Not as heavy as you might think. Nothing to worry about IMO. Good luck!

Good luck! I also ended up taking the DI pump off in mid install. Needed just a little more wiggle room of which there is very, very little. You'll be amazed at how tight of a fit it is in some spots. The starter and headers are fun too!

I see your banner on the wall. My 2 Purdue grad sons live in Gun Barrel and we have a place near Morrison. I'd like to check out your build sometime if you don't mind visitors.

Always down for visitors!
Gunbarrel is about 15 minutes from my place, so pretty close. Bob (aka Late Apex) who just finished his 65' also lives in GB.

My son is at Perdue now, with any luck he'll be done in 2025'. Gives me a chance to root for decent football and basketball teams

Interestingly, I see you received your kit last year in early November. I received mine 2 days later, I bet it was on the same Stewart truck as yours!
